U.S. President Donald Trump has unveiled the design of a new limited-edition commemorative passport marking the 250th anniversary of American independence, featuring his own portrait and signature.
Trump shared a rendering of the passport on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Friday, writing, "The U.S.A.'s New Passport," alongside the slogan, "Welcome, but be good!"
The commemorative passport is part of the United States' "America 250" celebrations. The interior design prominently features a stern-faced portrait of Trump leaning on a desk, his signature, and the text of the Declaration of Independence in the background. The image is believed to be based on a portrait taken by White House photographer Daniel Torok.
Another page displays John Trumbull's iconic painting depicting the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, accompanied by the words "United States of America 250." The White House also shared the same design on social media, referring to it as the "Patriot Passport."
The U.S. State Department previously announced that the special-edition passport would become available beginning July 6 as part of the country's 250th anniversary celebrations. According to department officials, the passport will be issued in limited quantities while supplies last.
The commemorative passport is the latest in a series of initiatives tied to the anniversary celebrations. Once issued, Trump will become the first sitting U.S. president to have his image featured in an official U.S. passport issued to American citizens.
