Nearly one million investors have collectively lost $3.8 billion after investing in the Trump Meme Coin, according to a new report by blockchain analytics firm Nansen.

According to The New York Times, Nansen analyzed publicly available blockchain transaction data and found that, as of the end of June, 988,905 cryptocurrency wallets holding the Trump Meme Coin were at a loss. The findings suggest that roughly two out of every three investors in the token have lost money.

The token was trading at $1.69 on Sunday, a sharp decline from its all-time high of $75.35, representing a loss of nearly 98 percent from its peak value.

President Donald Trump unveiled the meme coin just three days before being sworn in for his second term in 2025. Prior to the launch, he and his sons had established World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency-focused startup. However, the company's WLFI token has also experienced a significant decline in value since its launch.

In a recently released financial disclosure, Trump claimed he had earned $636 million from the Trump Meme Coin. The filing also stated that nearly half of his $1.4 billion in cryptocurrency-related income over the past year came from the meme token.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has said it does not intend to regulate meme coins as securities. The agency has also withdrawn several ongoing enforcement cases against cryptocurrency companies.

A White House spokesperson told The New York Times that the Trump administration is committed to making the United States the world's "crypto capital" and is proud of its efforts to promote the digital asset industry.
