Nearly 400 bloggers and social media influencers from the United States and dozens of other countries attended the six-day funeral ceremonies of Iran's late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to Iran's Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO).
Speaking to Iran's Tasnim News Agency, ICRO President Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour said that content creators and social media personalities from various countries took part in different events held during the funeral ceremonies.
Among the American influencers in attendance was Jackson Hinkle. Videos circulated during the funeral showed him chanting slogans in English against the United States and Zionism.
According to the British newspaper The Times, Hinkle, who describes himself as a supporter of "MAGA Communism," is well known on the social media platform X for his pro-Russia and pro-Iran positions. He has approximately 3.8 million followers and announced in 2025 that he had moved to Moscow.
The participation of U.S. citizens in the funeral has sparked political controversy in the United States. Sebastian Gorka, a close ally of President Donald Trump and a White House deputy assistant, shared a post referencing U.S. treason laws. Following his post, calls emerged for action to be taken against the American citizens who attended the event.
