White House Criticizes Biden-Era Military Aid to Foreign Countries as "Tragic"

The White House has sharply criticized former President Joe Biden's decision to provide large quantities of U.S. weapons and military equipment to foreign countries, including Ukraine, describing the policy as "disastrous" and "tragic."

Speaking at a press briefing, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt outlined the Trump administration's position on military assistance to Kyiv.

"President Donald Trump has been very clear from the beginning about the use of America's stockpile of military weapons and ammunition," Leavitt said. "Unfortunately, Joe Biden gave away massive amounts of American ammunition free of charge to foreign countries, particularly Ukraine. That was a deeply unfortunate and tragic decision."

Leavitt argued that President Donald Trump is taking a far more cautious and strategic approach than his predecessor when it comes to safeguarding U.S. military stockpiles and protecting national security interests.

She said the administration believes military assistance and the transfer of defense equipment should be carefully evaluated to ensure that American security and defense readiness are not compromised.

Trump has also recently stressed the need for extreme caution in approving the transfer of U.S. military technology or production licenses to other countries.

Asked about the possibility of providing Ukraine with the production technology for Patriot air defense systems or transferring long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles, Trump rejected suggestions that his administration would approve such technology transfers and expressed strong skepticism about the idea.

The remarks reflect the Trump administration's broader policy of placing greater emphasis on preserving U.S. defense capabilities while reassessing military assistance and advanced weapons transfers to foreign partners.
