NEWS DESKNasreen Jahan, Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism of Bangladesh, has stated that efforts will continue to make Hajj and Umrah more affordable and accessible through a coordinated approach.
She made the remarks on Saturday while speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the three-day National Hajj and Umrah Fair 2025, held at the Bangladesh–China Friendship Conference Center in Agargaon, Dhaka.
The Aviation Secretary praised last year’s Hajj management, calling it "excellent." She highlighted that airfares were reduced by Tk 30,000 last year to ease the financial burden on pilgrims. “This year, we will engage in discussions with other airlines involved in transporting Hajj pilgrims to determine even more affordable fares,” she added.
However, Nasreen Jahan also clarified that airfare reduction alone is not enough to significantly cut overall Hajj expenses. “There are four to five other major cost components of Hajj that need to be taken into account,” she said.
She called on Hajj agencies to focus on providing the highest quality service to pilgrims. The three-day fair was organized by the Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (HAAB).
HAAB President Syed Golam Sarwar delivered the welcome address. The event concluded with the chief guest presenting crests to representatives of participating organizations in recognition of their contributions to the Hajj and Umrah fair.
