From the conference, Khatme Nabuwwat Bangladesh announced a year-long program. The organization declared this program with a one-point demand: that the “Qadiani” community (a term used by the group to refer to the Ahmadiyya community) be officially declared non-Muslim.
The group stated that if their demand is not met, they will announce tougher programs.
On Saturday (15 November) afternoon, from the stage of the mass gathering held at Suhrawardy Udyan, Maulana Muhiyuddin Rabbani, Secretary General of International Majlis Tahaffuz-e-Khatme Nabuwwat Bangladesh, announced the programs. He said, “If the Qadianis are not declared non-Muslim, a much harsher program will be announced from the National Ulama-Mashayekh Conference.”
The announced programs include: Collecting public signatures from scholars and general believers until 30 April next year; Submitting memorandums to the deputy commissioners of every district in May and June; Holding divisional Khatme Nabuwwat conferences in each division from July to November.
Although the organization previously held scattered events in the country, this is the first time an international conference has been organized. Scholars from five countries, including Bangladesh, attended. The event was organized by the Combined Khatme Nabuwwat Council and supervised by the Khatme Nabuwwat Protection Committee.
The group stated that if the demand remains unmet even after these programs, a national conference of prominent scholars will be held in December to determine the next course of action.
Leaders from various Islamic parties, including BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami, delivered speeches at the conference. The event was presided over by Maulana Abdul Hamid (Pir Saheb, Madhupur), Convener of the Combined Khatme Nabuwwat Council and Ameer of the Khatme Nabuwwat Protection Committee Bangladesh.
