BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's health is improving, but at a very slow pace, a member of her medical board said this evening.

"While her condition shows signs of gradual progress, but the improvement is not significant and recovery will take time due to her age and multiple long-standing complications," said the medical board member.

He stated that as soon as one complication stabilises, another emerges.

"Although her prolonged liver issues are currently under control, deteriorating kidney function remains the primary concern. She continues to require regular dialysis, and her condition worsens whenever the dialysis is paused," the doctor added.

Given her fragile state, the medical team is not considering sending her abroad for advanced treatment until her health reaches a more stable point.

The board member further said that daily tests have been conducted since her admission to the CCU.

He went on to say that while her vital indicators are not worsening, she remains far from risk-free.

"She is receiving advanced treatment in the CCU, and the board meets every night to review her condition," he said.

During these meetings, specialists monitor all medical reports, adjusting medications when required – sometimes stopping a drug, resuming it later, or modifying its dosage.

Khaleda Zia's daughter-in-law Dr Zubaida Rahman is also attending the board meetings in person following her return home.
