The Bangladesh Election Commission (EC) reported that 4,25,788 expatriate voters have cast their postal ballots for the 13th national parliament elections and the upcoming referendum. The update was provided on Tuesday.
According to the EC, as of 10:30 AM Bangladesh time, 7,66,862 postal ballots had reached the country. Among these, 4,93,920 expatriates received their ballots, and 4,25,788 have already voted. Of these, 3,70,322 ballots were submitted via the postal services or ballot boxes in their respective countries, while 21,508 ballots have already arrived in Bangladesh.
This election also allows three groups of domestic citizens—government employees, law enforcement personnel, and prisoners—to vote via postal ballots.
Expatriates from over 120 countries are participating in the postal voting process, with a total of more than 15,33,000 registered overseas voters.
The 13th National Parliament election and the referendum are scheduled for 12 February, with polling taking place from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM Bangladesh time.
