Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has accused a specific political party of exerting undue dominance and attacking women in an attempt to capture the electoral field before even coming to power.
He made these remarks as the chief guest at an election rally for the Dhaka-10 constituency in Kalabagan on Saturday evening (January 31).
Expressing concern over the current political climate, the Jamaat chief stated that "dark forces" (metaphorically referred to as black kites) are hovering over the nation, attempting to foil the upcoming elections. He warned that any attempts to sabotage the people's will would be met with strong resistance from the public.
Dr. Rahman emphasized that if elected, his party would form a government for all 18 crore citizens, rather than focusing on a single family or alliance. He also vowed to ensure justice for every killing that occurred during the 2024 student-led revolution. Additionally, he shared plans to modernize the tannery industry and asserted that the nation’s future would no longer be dictated by foreign powers.
