Shafiqur Rahman, leader of the opposition and Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has said that opposition parties can set an example by working for the welfare of the people.
He made the remarks on Tuesday while distributing food packages among underprivileged families in Mirpur, Dhaka. The aid was described as a gift from China, and the event was attended by Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen.
Rahman emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations, stating that ties between Bangladesh and China should grow stronger. He added that cooperation between the two countries could help ensure peace, security, and development in the region, ultimately contributing to greater stability.
He also alleged that, in the past, assistance provided by China for the people of Bangladesh had been “hijacked.” However, he expressed hope that China would continue to support more people in the future.
On domestic issues, Rahman said his party is prepared to take any necessary steps to ensure the implementation of the Teesta River project, highlighting its importance for the country’s people.
