Disturbing new details are emerging in the brutal murder of two Bangladeshi students studying at the University of South Florida (USF). The suspect, 26-year-old American citizen Hisham Abugarbieh, has been described by police as a “serial offender” with a history of violent and criminal behavior.

Hisham, who was previously the roommate of victim Jamil Limon, had prior allegations of violent crimes and domestic abuse. Authorities say his aggressive temperament and repeated offenses point to a deeply troubling pattern.

According to the latest updates, DNA evidence collected from Hisham’s residence has confirmed the death of Nahida Sultana Brishti. Her family verified the match, intensifying the horror surrounding the case.

Law enforcement officials described Hisham’s arrest as tense and dramatic. Police responded to a domestic violence call at his home north of Tampa, where he barricaded himself inside with a weapon. The situation escalated to the point where a SWAT team had to be deployed. After a prolonged standoff, he eventually surrendered. Officers reportedly faced significant difficulty ensuring the safety of his family members before taking him into custody.

Court and sheriff’s office records from Hillsborough County reveal that Hisham was a former USF student, studying management from 2021 to 2023. However, he was no longer enrolled at the time of his arrest. Records also show he faced serious charges, including assault and theft, as recently as May and September 2023. Notably, even his own family had sought a domestic violence restraining order against him, indicating the extent of fear within his household.

Hisham is now facing multiple serious charges, including failure to report a death, unlawful disposal of a body, destruction of evidence, and premeditated violence. The case took an even darker turn after the dismembered remains of Jamil Limon were recovered from beneath a bridge, while Brishti’s death has now been confirmed through forensic evidence.

Investigators are working to determine the motive behind the killings—whether driven by personal grievances or deeper psychological issues.

Brishti’s brother, Zahid Hasan Pranto, stated that DNA from blood samples found inside Hisham’s home matched his sister’s. While it remains uncertain whether her full body will be recovered, authorities believe the murders were carried out in a calculated and cold-blooded manner.

Hisham is currently in custody in Hillsborough County as officials prepare formal murder charges. Authorities are compiling autopsy results and his criminal history to pursue the maximum possible penalty in this হত্যাকাণ্ড involving two promising Bangladeshi students whose academic futures were tragically cut short.
