The Election Commission (EC) has officially issued a gazette declaring 49 candidates elected unopposed to the reserved women’s seats for the 13th National Parliament.

The notification, signed by EC Additional Secretary KM Ali Nawaz, was released today, Thursday (April 30), following the completion of the scrutiny and withdrawal process.

According to the gazette, 36 candidates from the BNP-led alliance, 12 from the Jamaat-NCP alliance, and one candidate representing an independent alliance have been secured seats. Notable names among the BNP winners include Selima Rahman, Shirin Sultana, and Nipun Roy Chowdhury. The Jamaat-NCP alliance saw representatives like Nurunniswa Siddika and Marzia Begum elected, while Sultana Jasmine won the seat from the independent lawmakers' coalition.

As the number of valid candidates matched the number of vacant seats and no nominations were withdrawn by the deadline, the EC declared them winners without a contest. This gazette publication marks the formal conclusion of the election process for these reserved seats in the current parliamentary term.
