Seven Deputy Attorneys General, Ten Assistant Attorneys General Resign in Bangladesh

Seven Deputy Attorneys General and ten Assistant Attorneys General, reportedly associated with Jamaat-e-Islami, have resigned from their positions.

The law officers submitted their resignation letters simultaneously to the Office of the Attorney General on Monday.

Speaking on Tuesday, Deputy Attorney General Tarikul Islam confirmed the development.

The resigning Deputy Attorneys General are Yusuf Ali, Shafikur Rahman, Abdul Karim, Farid Uddin Khan, Golam Rahman Bhuiyan, Asad Uddin, and Tarikul Islam.

The Assistant Attorneys General who stepped down are Imrul Kayes Rana, Humayun Kabir Tanim, Abdul Qayyum Bhuiyan, Abdullahil Maruf Fahim, Jowadur Rahman, Shamsil Arefin, Mahabuba Akter Roli, Nur Nabi Ujjal, Al Reza Amir, and Rezaul Islam.

The reasons behind the simultaneous resignation of such a large number of law officers were not immediately disclosed. No official statement explaining the circumstances of the resignations has been issued so far.
