Prime Minister's Information and Broadcast Advisor Dr. Zahid Ur Rahman has warned that although the Awami League is currently in no position to conduct normal political activities, its leaders and activists possess vast amounts of wealth that could be utilized to instigate sabotage or instability across the country.

He made these remarks on Tuesday during a weekly briefing at the Press Information Department conference room in response to journalists' queries.

The Information Advisor expressed apprehension that recent disturbances in the garment sector might be linked to such subversive plots. Reflecting on Sheikh Hasina's potential return and her historical political stances, he recalled her post-election remarks in 1991 when she vowed not to let the then-government stay in peace for a single day. Consequently, he stated that the administration has no reason to believe she would allow the current government to function peacefully.

Reiterating the government's firm stance on bringing back Hasina from India, the Advisor noted that whether she returns voluntarily or is brought back, the ultimate goal remains the same. He mentioned that diplomatic and legal channels are being pursued to repatriate her, noting that despite being a convicted felon, she remains a citizen of the country.

Addressing ongoing labor unrest in the garment industry, Dr. Zahid Ur Rahman emphasized that the current administration wants to avoid the brutal force and lethal crackdowns characteristic of past authoritarian regimes. Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to exercise utmost restraint and adhere to the principle of proportionality when handling public demonstrations, while legitimate worker grievances are being addressed through dialogue.
