Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was accorded a red carpet welcome and a guard of honor upon his arrival in the Chinese capital, Beijing, on Wednesday afternoon. The Prime Minister, accompanied by his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman, arrived at Beijing’s Chaoming Railway Station at 5:35 PM local time via a high-speed bullet train from Dalian.
State news agency BSS reported that the Prime Minister was subsequently escorted in a ceremonial motorcade to the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, which will serve as his official residence during the Beijing leg of his visit.
The high-speed train carrying the Prime Minister departed from Dalian North Railway Station earlier in the day at 1:58 PM local time. The Prime Minister’s high-level delegation includes Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman; Minister of State for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit; Foreign Affairs Advisor Humayun Kabir; Overseas Employment Advisor Mahdi Amin; and Defence Advisor Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. A K M Shamsul Islam, alongside Senior Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon.
Before departing for Beijing, Prime Minister Rahman attended the plenary session of the Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also known as the "Summer Davos," organized by the World Economic Forum (WEF) at the Dalian International Conference Center. The Prime Minister arrived in Dalian on Monday following a two-day official visit to Malaysia. This marks his first official visit to Beijing since assuming office on February 17, following his party's landslide victory in the 13th National Parliamentary Election, and he is scheduled to hold crucial bilateral talks with China's top leadership.
