U.S. Eases Travel Advisory for Bangladesh, Lowers Alert to Level 2

The United States has revised its travel advisory for Bangladesh, lowering the country's overall travel warning from Level 3: "Reconsider Travel" to Level 2: "Exercise Increased Caution."

In a statement issued on Thursday night, Bangladesh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the updated advisory reflects the U.S. assessment that Bangladesh is now a safer destination for travelers.

The announcement came following a meeting at the Padma State Guest House between Bangladesh's Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman and Sergio Gor, U.S. President Donald Trump's Special Envoy.

According to the ministry, shortly after the meeting concluded, Gor informed Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman of the change via a text message.

Bangladesh Sees Advisory Change as Recognition of Improved Security

The Foreign Ministry said the upgraded travel advisory demonstrates growing U.S. confidence in Bangladesh's overall security situation and stability.

The statement added that, over the past six months, the government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has made visible progress in strengthening law and order across the country.

The government described the revised advisory as recognition of its continued efforts to enhance security and stability while promoting international travel, trade, investment, and people-to-people ties with the global community.
