Bangladesh PM Tarique Rahman Joins UN Secretary-General's Welcome Breakfast in New York

Bangladesh's Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, attended the United Nations Secretary-General's Welcome Breakfast in New York, marking the official start of the prime minister's engagements at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

Hosted by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, the annual breakfast was held at 8:00 a.m. local time on Tuesday at the North Delegates Lounge of the UN Headquarters. The event brought together world leaders and their spouses ahead of the General Assembly's high-level meetings.

At the start of the event, heads of state and government, accompanied by their spouses, took the stage individually for an official photo session with Guterres and his wife.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Dr. Zubaida Rahman also participated in the photo session and exchanged greetings with the UN Secretary-General and his wife.

Following the breakfast, the prime minister attended the opening session of the 81st UN General Assembly at 9:00 a.m. in the General Assembly Hall, where heads of state and government from around the world were present.

According to his official schedule, Prime Minister Rahman is set to address the UN General Assembly on September 24. The speech will be his first at the United Nations as Bangladesh's head of government, and in keeping with Bangladesh's long-standing tradition, he is expected to deliver his remarks in Bangla.

On the sidelines of the General Assembly, the prime minister is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings and high-level courtesy calls with several world leaders and heads of international organizations.
