Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Dr. Zubaida Rahman Attend Trump’s Dinner

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, attended a dinner hosted by United States President Donald Trump in New York.

The dinner was held on Tuesday night, September 22, in honor of world leaders attending the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. The information was confirmed by Mahdi Amin, adviser to the prime minister and spokesperson for his office, during a press briefing on the prime minister’s activities on the first day of his New York visit.

Earlier, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held a series of important meetings in New York. He met Bhutanese Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay, Maldives Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef, World Bank Group President Ajay Banga and Julie Bishop, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Myanmar.

Foreign Affairs State Minister Humayun Kabir also spoke about the possibility of a meeting between Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and President Donald Trump. He said President Trump had already sent a letter expressing his interest in meeting the prime minister.

According to the state minister, the proposed meeting is being considered as a bilateral matter. The two sides may arrange the meeting during a full-fledged bilateral visit at a mutually convenient time in the future.
