Jamaat Chief Attends Saudi National Day Reception in Dhaka

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, attended a reception hosted by the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Dhaka to mark the Kingdom's 96th National Day.

The reception was held on Tuesday at the Grand Ballroom of Sheraton Dhaka in the capital's Banani area.

During the event, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman presented a congratulatory letter to Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr. Abdullah Jafar bin Abiyah, conveying his greetings and best wishes to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on the occasion of Saudi Arabia's National Day.

In the letter, Dr. Rahman extended heartfelt congratulations and warm wishes to the Saudi monarch, the royal family, the Saudi government, and the people of Saudi Arabia on behalf of Bangladesh and its people.

The message highlighted the deep respect and affection Muslims around the world hold for Saudi Arabia and acknowledged the Kingdom's responsibility in serving and managing the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) in Makkah and the Prophet's Mosque (Al-Masjid an-Nabawi) in Madinah. It also praised Saudi Arabia's continued support and services for millions of Muslims performing Hajj and Umrah each year.

The letter further stated that relations between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia extend beyond conventional bilateral ties and are rooted in strong religious, cultural, and people-to-people connections. It noted that the large Bangladeshi expatriate community in Saudi Arabia serves as an important human bridge between the two countries and expressed hope for further strengthening the longstanding friendly relations.

During the reception, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman also exchanged greetings with diplomats from various countries and other distinguished guests attending the event.

Among those present were Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, Assistant Secretaries General Maulana ATM Masum, Maulana Mohammad Abdul Halim, and Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, as well as Ali Ahmad Mabroor, a member of the Opposition Leader's Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee.
