Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed has described economic relations between Bangladesh and the United States as highly positive, highlighting the growing strategic partnership between the two countries alongside their longstanding diplomatic ties.

He said the United States is Bangladesh's single largest export destination.

The Speaker made the remarks while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 30th US Trade Show 2026, organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham), at Hotel InterContinental Dhaka on Thursday.

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo attended the event as a special guest, while US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen was present as a guest. AmCham Bangladesh President Syed Kamal Hossain delivered the welcome address.

In his speech, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said the 30th US Trade Show showcased the strength of bilateral trade and commercial relations between Bangladesh and the United States.

He noted that over the past three decades, the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh had played an important role in facilitating trade and investment in the country.

The exhibition highlights innovative ideas and developments across several key sectors, including healthcare technology, power and energy, ICT and the digital economy, banking and financial services, manufacturing, education and agribusiness, he added.

The Speaker also invited US companies to explore oil and gas reserves in Bangladesh's coastal areas and the Bay of Bengal to help address the country's ongoing energy challenges.

Following his remarks, he formally inaugurated the 30th US Trade Show 2026.

The three-day exhibition, running from November 5 to 7 at Hotel InterContinental Dhaka, is one of the major platforms aimed at strengthening trade and commercial relations between Bangladesh and the United States.

Representatives from the United States, officials from various embassies, the vice-chairman and executive members of AmCham Bangladesh, invited guests and members of the media attended the event.
