China Rejects Trump Tariff Order on Cuba Backing Its National Sovereignty

Following measures against Venezuela US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order imposing tariffs on nations supplying oil to Cuba.

Signed on Thursday January 29 the order designates Cuba as a national emergency threat to the United States. The administration alleges that Cubas ties with nations and groups like Russia China Iran Hamas and Hezbollah pose a direct risk to American interests and national security.

In response China has officially rejected Trumps latest diplomatic and economic escalation against the island nation. During a press briefing in Beijing on Friday January 30 Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun expressed Chinas solid support for Cuba. He stated that Beijing backs Cuba in safeguarding its national sovereignty and strongly opposes any external interference. Guo emphasized that China remains firm against US policies that deprive the Cuban people of their fundamental rights to economic survival.
