The United Arab Emirates has issued a stern warning regarding the security of the Strait of Hormuz, stating that Iran can no longer be trusted to ensure safe navigation in this vital maritime corridor.
Anwar Gargash, advisor to the UAE President, expressed these concerns in a post on X (formerly Twitter) this Friday. He asserted that following Tehran's recent "treacherous aggressions" against neighboring states, any unilateral measures or assurances from Iran regarding the freedom of navigation lack credibility.
This sharp rebuke comes in the wake of a month-long blockade of the strait by Iran since March, which has severely disrupted global trade routes and triggered significant economic instability worldwide. The UAE’s critical stance highlights growing regional tensions over the control of one of the world's most strategic oil-transit chokepoints.
