Leading Iranian newspapers are increasingly portraying a narrative that the global influence of the United States is weakening, particularly in the Middle East, while a new world order is beginning to take shape.

According to CNN, media outlets across Iran’s political spectrum—from conservative to reformist—have prominently highlighted what they describe as the failures of President Donald Trump’s policies, along with signs of both domestic and international decline in American power.

A key theme in these reports is the shifting geopolitical balance in the Persian Gulf region. Iranian outlets argue that traditional U.S. allies are reassessing their positions, while strengthening ties with China—a development framed as a strategic setback for Washington.

The influential conservative daily Kayhan ran a headline using a Persian proverb: “Trump’s mountain-sized efforts have given birth to a mouse! The Strait of Hormuz is tightening.” The phrase suggests that despite bold initiatives, the Trump administration has delivered minimal results. The paper also claimed that U.S. efforts to secure shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz have failed, eroding international confidence.

Meanwhile, reformist newspaper Shargh focused on the situation of the United Arab Emirates, running the headline: “The UAE Trapped in Tel Aviv’s Snare.” Its analysis argued that close alignment with Washington and Israel is strategically harming regional actors like the UAE.

Shargh also pointed to Beijing’s economic moves, claiming that Chinese authorities have encouraged smaller refineries to continue purchasing Iranian oil despite U.S. sanctions—posing a challenge to American economic dominance.

Another publication, Farhikhtegan, attributed what it described as America’s decline to “Trumpism,” labeling it a destabilizing force in U.S. governance. Its headline warned: “Trumpism Will Lead to America’s Downfall,” portraying Trump as an increasingly isolated and authoritarian leaders.

Overall, Iranian media narratives suggest that U.S. dominance in the Middle East is fading, with global power dynamics shifting toward a more multipolar order in which Washington faces growing constraints.
