Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) has called for an immediate end to what it described as inhumane and unlawful eviction drives being carried out across India, expressing serious concern over the impact of the operations on affected communities.

The demand was made during a press conference held on Tuesday at the organization's headquarters in New Delhi, where senior JIH leaders addressed a range of national and international issues.

Alongside concerns over the eviction campaigns, the organization welcomed the recently announced U.S.-Iran peace agreement and also commented on transparency in Rajya Sabha elections and the post-election situation in West Bengal.

Speaking at the briefing, JIH Vice President Malik Moatasim Khan strongly condemned the ongoing demolitions and evictions, arguing that many of the operations are being conducted without due legal process or adequate rehabilitation plans.

“These actions are extremely inhumane,” Khan said. “They constitute a direct violation of people's fundamental rights and dignity.”

According to Khan, eviction and demolition drives have been carried out in recent weeks in several cities and regions, including Delhi, Kolkata, Bandra, Faridabad, Viramgam, Goregaon, Varanasi, Sambhal, Jaipur, Bhayandar, Pimpri-Chinchwad (PCMC), and Etawah.

He alleged that in Pimpri-Chinchwad, authorities conducted late-night operations that resulted in the demolition of several religious structures. In Nasir Nagar, Surat, he claimed that 106 houses were demolished within three days. Khan also cited the demolition of Jaipur’s Noorani Mosque as part of a road-widening project.

The JIH leader said that many families have been left homeless as a result of the drives and are now facing severe hardship during the intense summer heat.

“Thousands of people have lost the roofs over their heads,” he said. “Their suffering is already immense, and the approaching monsoon season could make their situation even worse.”

Khan further noted that the Supreme Court of India has emphasized that no eviction should take place without proper rehabilitation measures. He urged authorities to immediately suspend the ongoing operations and ensure that affected citizens are provided with dignified living conditions and adequate resettlement support.

The organization reiterated its call for authorities to uphold constitutional protections, follow due process, and safeguard the rights and welfare of vulnerable communities affected by eviction drives across the country.
