Global Delegations Arrive in Tehran to Pay Tribute to Late Iranian Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

Political, religious, and cultural delegations from across the world gathered at Tehran's Imam Khomeini Mosalla on Friday to pay tribute to Iran's late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

According to Iran's state news agency IRNA, the tribute ceremony was held as part of the late leader's funeral observances.

Representatives from Russia, India, China, Türkiye, Iraq, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, and Bangladesh attended the event, along with members of Iraq's Kata'ib Hezbollah.

The ceremony also drew Islamic scholars and religious thinkers from Indonesia and Afghanistan, Ahmad Massoud—the son of the late Afghan commander Ahmad Shah Massoud—a delegation from Lebanon's Amal Movement, representatives of resistance groups from Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Morocco, and Türkiye, delegates from Afghanistan's Fatemiyoun Brigade, and political representatives from Pakistan.

Cultural figures from Spain, Ecuador, and Bolivia, members of Bulgaria's parliament, and representatives of the country's Republican Party also paid their respects. Prominent Iranian politician Gholam Ali Haddad-Adel, along with several senior Iranian officials, was also present.

Among those attending were members of the family of the late Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, commanders of the Lebanese resistance movement, a delegation from Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Iraqi tribal leaders, Kurdish political groups from Iraq's Kurdistan Region, Iraqi lawmakers, representatives of various Lebanese political parties, and journalists from Lebanon, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

The event was also attended by Palestinian delegations, Hindu religious leaders, Shia representatives from Thailand and Germany, a delegation of Russian Islamic scholars, representatives of Turkish political parties, and members of Georgia's Muslim administration.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said representatives from nearly 100 countries—including government officials, lawmakers, and members of civil society organizations—were expected to participate in the funeral ceremonies. He added that eight heads of state and 12 parliamentary speakers would attend the farewell events for the late Iranian leader.
