Amar Ekushey Boi Mela Postponed by Bangla Academy

The Bangla Academy has announced the postponement of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair following the instructions of the Ministry of Home Affairs. According to the directive, the event will now take place after the upcoming national elections.

In an official notice signed by the Director General of the Bangla Academy, Professor Mohammad Azam, it was stated that based on a decision from the Ministry of Home Affairs dated September 21, 2025, "the Amar Ekushey Book Fair must be arranged after the upcoming national elections." Consequently, the previously determined date for the fair in 2026, which was set for December 17 of this year, has been postponed.

The decision to delay the fair was made following consultations with the Bangladesh Publishers and Booksellers Association (BAPUS) and other relevant stakeholders. A new date for the event will be fixed later, based on further discussions. The fair was originally scheduled for February, in line with the national election timetable.
