Uncertainty surrounding Bangladesh's participation in the Frankfurt Book Fair has been resolved following swift intervention by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The development came after a report published by the Bangladeshi daily Manab Zamin highlighted concerns over the country's participation in this year's edition of the world's largest international book fair.
Following the report, Cultural Affairs Adviser Nitai Roy Chowdhury held a telephone conversation with Bangladesh's Ambassador to Germany, Muhammad Zulkarnain. During the discussion, they agreed on measures to ensure Bangladesh's participation in this year's Frankfurt Book Fair and explored ways to promote the country's literature and cultural heritage more strategically on the international stage in the future.
Ambassador Zulkarnain also invited the cultural affairs adviser to attend next year's Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany.
Officials believe that the Ministry of Cultural Affairs' prompt response, together with the direct communication between the adviser and the ambassador, helped resolve the issues surrounding Bangladesh's participation.
