Due to the ongoing government shutdown, widespread issues have arisen across the United States. Families who relied on government food assistance are now facing severe food insecurity. Many others are struggling to pay rent and school fees for their children after losing their jobs.
On Wednesday, the shutdown surpassed its longest duration in history, even exceeding the 35-day record set during Donald Trump's first term. The administration has issued a warning that American citizens may lose access to essential government benefits if the deadlock continues.
Currently, nearly 1.4 million federal employees, including air traffic controllers and park rangers, are either furloughed or working without pay. Among them, over 60,000 air transport controllers and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers are working without compensation.
In this crisis, the Muslim Ummah of North America - MUNA and its affiliate organization, MUNA Social Services, have been tirelessly working to support affected families.
On November 6, the organization confirmed through a post on their Facebook page that anyone in need of assistance is encouraged to reach out to their website (www.munassinc.org). They also extended an invitation for those who are able to help to come forward and support these families during this challenging time.
