Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and senior political leader Ajit Pawar has died in a tragic plane crash in India, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
The aircraft carrying the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader crashed while attempting to land at Baramati Airport in Maharashtra on Wednesday morning. All onboard were killed, including Pawar and other passengers, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Early reports indicate that the plane crashed as it was landing, caught fire upon impact, and was destroyed. Visuals from the scene showed the wreckage engulfed in flames with smoke rising from the site.

Pawar, 66, was traveling from Mumbai to Baramati, where he had planned to attend a series of events linked to upcoming local elections. His personal jet went down near the runway during the landing attempt.
