Trump's Board of Peace Unveils $2.45 Billion Gaza Reconstruction Plan

U.S. President Donald Trump's Board of Peace has announced a $2.45 billion action plan for the reconstruction of Gaza during a meeting held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

The funding will be allocated over six months across 66 projects, covering key sectors including housing, diesel-powered electricity generation, waste removal, and other essential services.

The board acknowledged, however, that substantial additional funding is still needed. While donors have pledged $18 billion so far, only $280 million has been disbursed.

According to the board's estimates, approximately $71.4 billion will be required over the next decade to fully restore and rebuild Gaza.

Jared Kushner, a member of the Gaza Executive Board and President Trump's son-in-law, said the initiative has faced "various types of delays for various reasons" across different sectors.

Joining him in New York, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff said the team had made "real progress" over the past year.

"All the hostages have returned home. A ceasefire is in place. While it is not perfect, it is holding. Humanitarian assistance has achieved historic results. Billions of dollars have been provided and pledged to meet urgent needs and support long-term recovery efforts," Witkoff said.

Beyond securing financial support, the reconstruction plan faces several major challenges. These include ensuring the safety of personnel working in Gaza, rebuilding the territory's internal administrative institutions, and achieving consensus between Israeli and Palestinian officials on governance and implementation.

Speaking at a separate news conference on Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that "several countries have stepped forward with financial commitments" and that the board is seeking broader international participation to support the initiative.
