The ongoing drama between Elon Musk and Donald Trump has reached a fever pitch, this time with former Trump strategist Steve Bannon publicly demanding Musk’s deportation and questioning the billionaire’s citizenship.

Once one of Trump’s biggest financial backers, Elon Musk has now found himself in the crosshairs of MAGA (Make America Great Again) world. On Thursday, things spiralled as Bannon, speaking on his live webcast War Room, slammed Musk over their escalating feud and accused him of being in the US illegally.

‘I believe Elon Musk is an illegal alien,’ Bannon claimed, adding, ‘He should be deported immediately.’ The bombshell statement follows a day of online mudslinging between Musk and Trump after the Tesla CEO tore into Trump’s prized legislative proposal, the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill Act’, calling it a ‘disgusting abomination’.

Musk’s sharp critique triggered fierce blowback from Trump’s camp, culminating in Bannon’s tirade, where he not only called for Musk’s removal from the country but also advocated pulling the plug on his lucrative government contracts.

‘Elon’s made billions off US taxpayers and now he’s turning on Trump?’ Bannon said. ‘Cut him off, immediately.’

Bannon, who once held a top role in Trump’s administration, is no stranger to attacking Musk. But this time, his allegations took on a more personal tone. On his webcast, Bannon hinted at a broader immigration scandal, alleging that Musk’s path to citizenship was shady and deserved scrutiny.

‘He’s not one of us,’ Bannon continued. ‘We’re talking about deporting illegal immigrants, let’s start with the South Africans.’

These claims echo previous reports, including one from The Washington Post, which alleged that Musk may have worked illegally in the US before becoming a naturalised citizen. Musk, who was born in Pretoria, South Africa, moved to Canada before eventually settling in the United States, where he built his tech empire, Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink and now X (formerly Twitter).

This isn’t just personal – it’s political warfare. Musk donated approximately $250 million to Trump’s 2024 campaign, but their alliance has quickly soured. The final blow may have come on Thursday, when Musk used his platform, X, to unleash a barrage of posts attacking Trump, even invoking Jeffrey Epstein in an attempt to discredit the president.

Bannon was furious. ‘President Trump stood by this guy. Promoted him. Backed him, even when people like me warned him,’ he said. ‘And how does Musk repay that loyalty? With the most vicious, ungrateful attacks you could imagine.’

Trump himself has yet to respond directly to Bannon’s demands, but insiders suggest the former president is furious over Musk’s recent actions and is seriously considering a reevaluation of Musk’s contracts with the government.

Musk, meanwhile, has continued to tweet defiantly, portraying himself as a truth-teller unafraid to challenge power, including Trump.
