Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar are set to attend the Janaza of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in Dhaka on Wednesday, according to official sources.

A source at the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka confirmed on Tuesday that Ishaq Dar is scheduled to arrive in the capital on Wednesday to take part in the janaza prayers. Separately, a senior official at Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs told the media that India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will also be present at the state janaza.

Officials described the participation of senior leaders from neighboring countries as highly significant. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that, in addition to India and Pakistan, high-level representatives from several South and Southeast Asian countries are expected to attend the janaza.

Diplomatic sources noted that the presence of foreign dignitaries reflects international recognition of Begum Khaleda Zia’s political role and her long-standing engagement in regional and global diplomacy. Preparations for the arrival of international guests are underway, with security and protocol measures being strengthened.

The janaza is scheduled to be held at the National Parliament House premises in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. Authorities expect a solemn and emotional atmosphere, with the participation of prominent national and international figures. The government has said that protocol teams are working round the clock to receive and assist the visiting foreign delegations.
