In a significant diplomatic breakthrough, Israel has reportedly removed Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf from its immediate assassination list to allow a window for peace talks.
Sources revealed to Reuters and the Wall Street Journal this Thursday (March 26) that the decision followed a strategic intervention by Pakistan. Islamabad reportedly urged the U.S. to restrain Israel, arguing that killing Tehran’s top negotiators would leave no one to represent Iran at the table. Washington has confirmed that both leaders are temporarily safe for the next 4 to 5 days. Since the conflict began on February 28, Israel has successfully targeted several high-ranking Iranian officials, including the former Supreme Leader.
However, as Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey work to bridge the gap between Washington’s 15-point proposal and Tehran’s 5-point counter-offer, Araghchi and Ghalibaf remain central to the dialogue. Despite this diplomatic pause, Israel claimed today to have neutralized IRGC Navy Chief Alireza Tangsiri, keeping the region on a knife-edge.
