Ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has increased compared to previous days, according to maritime intelligence firm Windward.

The firm reported that 16 vessels transited the strait on Wednesday, marking the third consecutive day of rising traffic. All of the ships reportedly passed through after reaching understandings with Iran.

According to Windward’s data, every vessel used the route near Larak Island. This suggests that more countries are engaging in negotiations with Iran to ensure safe passage for their ships. Transit volumes are expected to increase further in the coming days.

Despite the recent rise, overall traffic remains significantly below normal levels. Data from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development shows that before the outbreak of conflict, around 130 ships passed through the strait daily as of February 28.

Iran has stated that, following the conflict, all countries can operate ships through the strait by reaching agreements and paying tolls, though vessels belonging to its adversaries and allies are excluded.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical energy corridors, through which oil and gas from Gulf nations are transported to Asia and other global markets.
