Russia has imposed a temporary ban on the export and sale of jet fuel used in aviation, citing a decline in domestic production caused by Ukrainian attacks on oil refineries and other fuel infrastructure across the country.

The Kremlin officially announced the decision on Monday, stating that the restrictions will remain in effect until November 30.

Russia is a key supplier of jet fuel to several Central Asian nations, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, primarily through rail shipments.

According to a government statement, the new restrictions will also apply to jet fuel purchased through commodity exchanges for international trade purposes.

The Kremlin said the primary objective of the measure is to ensure the long-term stability of Russia’s domestic fuel market.

However, the Russian authorities noted that several exemptions will apply. These include fuel shipments that had already completed customs clearance procedures before the ban came into force, as well as supplies delivered under existing bilateral agreements with foreign countries.

The move comes as Russia continues to face disruptions to its energy sector following a series of Ukrainian drone and missile attacks targeting refineries and other critical fuel infrastructure, raising concerns over domestic fuel availability and production levels.
