Around 500 Israeli Settlers Storm Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound

Nearly 500 Israeli settlers entered the flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem on Sunday morning and performed religious rituals, according to the Jerusalem Governorate.

The intrusion occurred despite standing regulations that prohibit non-Muslim prayer or religious practices within the sacred site.

The incident coincided with the Jewish New Year celebration of Rosh Hashanah, prompting Israeli forces to tighten security measures around the mosque and the Old City of Jerusalem. The governorate expressed deep concern over the silence of Israeli media regarding the settlers' breach. As Islam's third-holiest site, the unlawful entry by Israeli settlers into the compound has heightened fears of a systematic attempt to alter the status quo.
