If you're in Saudi Arabia this coming June, prepare for an extended break. Eid Al Adha 2025 is expected to fall on Friday, June 6, with Arafat Day likely on Thursday, June 5, according to early predictions based on the Islamic lunar calendar, announces Saudi Media.

Like other Islamic holidays, the final dates for Eid Al Adha will be confirmed based on the moon sighting, which is typically announced by local religious authorities just before the holiday.

Eid Al Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the two main Islamic holidays. It marks the story of Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham) devotion to Allah SWT, shown through his willingness to sacrifice his son. As the story goes, God intervened and provided a ram to sacrifice instead.

In this Day, Muslims around the world honor this act by sacrificing livestock. The meat is traditionally divided into three parts-one for the family, one for relatives and friends, and one for those in need.

The festival follows the annual pilgrimage to Makkah, known as Hajj. This pilgrimage takes place from the 8th to the 13th of Dhu al-Hijjah, the final month of the Islamic calendar. Eid Al Adha starts on the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah and usually lasts for three days.
