For more than six decades, Jackson was actively involved in the fight against racial discrimination and in advocacy for social justice and human rights. He joined the civil rights movement in the 1960s and worked closely with Martin Luther King Jr. as one of his key associates.
Jackson also played a significant role in U.S. politics. He ran for president as a candidate of the Democratic Party in 1984 and 1988. Although he did not secure the party’s nomination, his campaigns opened new doors for African American participation in national politics.
He founded Operation PUSH and the Rainbow Coalition to promote social and economic equality. Through these organizations, he worked to advance minority rights in education, employment, and business sectors.
In recent years, Jackson had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease and other health complications. His family said he passed away peacefully.
Jesse Jackson will be remembered as an unwavering voice for justice, equality, and human rights in American society. His death has cast a shadow of mourning across the United States and around the world.
