Renowned American scholar Professor Jeffrey Sachs has called on India, China, and Russia to take a coordinated role in stopping what he described as war against Iran.

Speaking recently Sachs stated that only these three major powers currently have the ability to prevent the world from a catastrophic crisis. As the director of Columbia University’s Center for Sustainable Development, he identified Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Russian President Vladimir Putin as the world’s sole “prudent leaders” capable of coordinated action.

Sachs sharply criticized Israel’s political leadership, saying a faction remains trapped in “medieval thinking” and labeling the actions in Gaza as outright “genocide.”

Regarding India’s foreign relations, Sachs warned that being allied with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not in India’s interest. He argued that for an emerging power like India, maintaining any strategic partnership or alliance with Israel would not serve national interests.

Answering a question on Pakistan’s potential peace efforts, Sachs emphasized that the conflict can only be resolved through the BRICS nations. Citing India’s current BRICS chairmanship and its historical ties with Iran, he advised New Delhi against following U.S. influence or behaving like “subservient” Western states.

Sachs concluded that negotiating individually with leaders like Donald Trump is difficult, and only a collective effort by India, China, and Russia could effectively defuse the conflict. He expressed strong confidence that if these three powers take coordinated action, the world could be spared from a major global confrontation.
