U.S. President Donald Trump has declared that Tuesday’s deadline given to Iran over the ongoing conflict is final, with no possibility of extension.

Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said the timeline for reopening the Strait of Hormuz and ending hostilities would not be changed.

“Iran has made a proposal, and it is an important step,” Trump said. “But it is not enough.”

He added that the conflict could end quickly if Iran takes the necessary actions. “They know what needs to be done, and I believe they are negotiating in good faith,” he said.

Addressing the broader war situation, Trump stated that the United States has the option to withdraw from the conflict immediately but is not inclined to do so.

“We could leave right now,” he said. “Even then, it would take them 15 years to rebuild what they have. Still, I want to finish this.”

Trump also noted that the United States has “many options” if the conflict continues for an extended period.

Reaffirming his firm stance, he emphasized that Iran must never be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons.
