The recent conflict between the United States and Iran has reportedly become the most expensive war in American history in terms of daily military spending. According to the latest figures on U.S. defense expenditures, the short-term confrontation not only broke records in overall operational costs but also surpassed every previous American war in average daily spending.

Statistics suggest that the daily cost of the conflict was nearly three times higher than that of the Iraq War.

On Sunday, Tasnim News Agency reported that, based on independent assessments, the United States spent an average of $1.88 billion per day during the first six days of the war against Iran. Over the course of the roughly 40-day military campaign, total spending allegedly exceeded $45 billion.

By comparison, the daily costs of previous U.S. wars were significantly lower: approximately $684 million during the Iraq War, $355 million during the Korean War, $315 million during the Afghanistan War, and only $137 million during the Vietnam War.

However, the Pentagon claimed that total U.S. expenditures up to the April 8 ceasefire amounted to around $25 billion. Independent sources, meanwhile, estimated that the actual cost had already surpassed $45.3 billion by that point. Despite the conflict lasting only 40 days, analysts say the financial burden continues to rise.

Military experts believe the unprecedented pace of spending was driven by the intensity of the attacks, the extensive use of highly expensive precision-guided munitions, and the enormous logistical costs of maintaining air operations in the region.

The nearly $20 billion discrepancy between official figures and independent estimates has also raised questions about transparency in the U.S. military budget.

During the early days of the conflict, the commander of United States Central Command reportedly stated that the scale of operations against Iran in the first 24 hours alone was twice as large as the initial invasion of Iraq. Analysts say this demonstrates that the financial scale of the war is unlike any previous U.S. conflict.

Historically, the Iraq War remains the most expensive U.S. war in total spending at around $2 trillion, while the Afghanistan War cost approximately $2.3 trillion. The Korean War cost an estimated $389 billion, and the Vietnam War around $1 trillion.

Despite being much shorter in duration, the conflict with Iran has now set a new record for daily military expenditure in U.S. history.

The unprecedented spending has also triggered concerns about the cost of future conflicts. Reports claim that the United States used weapons at such a rapid pace during the first 24 hours that it launched more Patriot missiles than had been used during the entire three years of the Russia-Ukraine war.

As a result, missile stockpiles are reportedly being depleted quickly. According to the latest figures regarding the Iran-U.S. conflict, total expenditures have already exceeded $83 billion. Although a fragile ceasefire is currently in place between the two countries, U.S. military spending has reportedly continued to increase.

Analysts warn that if the conflict with Iran were to escalate or continue for a prolonged period, U.S. military expenditures could reach unprecedented levels and potentially trigger one of the largest economic crises in American history.
