President Donald Trump stated that Iran has offered formal assurances that no tolls, extra insurance charges, or additional fees will be levied on vessels navigating through the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Wednesday (June 24), the President noted that Tehran communicated its commitment to forgo any financial collections from ships transiting the vital maritime corridor.

The President issued a stern warning, asserting that if these assurances prove to be misleading, all ongoing diplomatic negotiations with Iran will be terminated immediately. He did not, however, clarify whether this stance would remain effective beyond the current 60-day negotiation window. While Tehran has consistently maintained that its plans involve collecting standard maritime service fees rather than arbitrary tolls, the administration has vehemently opposed the move. Interestingly, this claim comes just a day after Iran and Oman jointly emphasized their sovereign rights over the waterway, stating they were actively reviewing service-based fee structures for the strait.
