Israel has shared intelligence with the United States alleging that Iran has recently developed a new plot to assassinate President Donald Trump, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

The reported intelligence comes at a time of renewed tensions between Washington and Tehran, as a fragile ceasefire appears to be under increasing strain.

One of the sources said Israel transmitted the warning to US officials earlier this week. Another source said US intelligence agencies had already been receiving reports in recent weeks about possible Iranian threats targeting Trump, but described the Israeli information as new and focused on a specific alleged conspiracy.

However, some US officials believe Israel may have highlighted the intelligence in an effort to influence Trump's decision on whether to intensify military operations against Iran.

The details of the alleged plot remain unclear. The sources said the United States has not independently verified the intelligence and was not actively tracking the specific alleged plan before receiving Israel's warning.

US officials have long viewed the possibility of Iranian retaliation against Trump as a security concern following the 2020 US drone strike that killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, an operation carried out under Trump's administration.

Asked about the Israeli intelligence, the White House referred to Trump's recent public remarks. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Trump said, "They want to kill me. I'm on every one of their lists. I saw this morning that my name is on every list. So far, maybe I've been lucky, but I don't know how long that will last."

Trump also described Iranian leaders as "dangerous" and reiterated his hardline stance toward Tehran, saying the threat must be eliminated before it grows further.

The president later said he had recently learned that he was listed as the highest-priority assassination target in what he described as a new Iranian list. However, he did not clarify whether he was referring to the intelligence reportedly provided by Israel.

According to two sources familiar with recent US intelligence assessments, American intelligence agencies are monitoring several individuals and groups that have discussed potential attacks, although no operational steps have been identified so far. One of the sources said current and former senior US officials could also be potential targets.

At the same time, some within the US intelligence community reportedly view the Israeli intelligence as part of a broader effort to shape Washington's Iran policy, reflecting longstanding caution among some American officials regarding Israeli intelligence assessments.

Meanwhile, large crowds attending funeral and mourning ceremonies last week for Iran's late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, reportedly chanted slogans calling for Trump's death and the destruction of the United States.

Despite the heightened military tensions and Trump's recent declaration that the memorandum of understanding with Iran was effectively "over," diplomatic contacts between Washington and Tehran continue behind the scenes, according to a US official.

The official said both sides are working toward reaching a new nuclear agreement by mid-August. Several officials also said the United States had prepared for potential military action on Thursday night but ultimately postponed it to give diplomacy another opportunity.
