CNN, Politico and MS Now to Sue Trump Administration Over White House Access Ban

CNN, Politico and MS Now said they will jointly sue the Trump administration after President Donald Trump barred the three news organizations from the White House, arguing that the move violates constitutional protections for press freedom.

The media organizations announced their legal challenge in response to what they described as an unprecedented effort to restrict independent journalism by denying their reporters access to the White House.

Trump imposed the ban on Friday, accusing the outlets of publishing fabricated stories and false reports about his administration. The following day, reporters from the three organizations had their White House press credentials revoked and were denied entry to the presidential complex.

In a joint statement, CNN, Politico and MS Now said the administration cancelled their credentials without following any established procedures and solely because of coverage it disliked.

The organizations argued that the action represents a direct attack on the freedom of the press guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution, saying the government cannot decide which news organizations are allowed to report based on the content of their journalism.

The dispute is the latest in a long-running conflict between Trump and major U.S. news organizations.

During his political career, Trump has repeatedly labeled prominent newspapers, including The New York Times and The Washington Post, as "fake news." Earlier this year, reporters from The Associated Press were also barred from certain White House events following a dispute over the news agency's continued use of the name "Gulf of Mexico." That legal challenge remains ongoing.

The joint lawsuit by CNN, Politico and MS Now marks the latest effort by major U.S. media organizations to challenge what they describe as government interference with press access and editorial independence.
