Trump Administration Launches 'Trump TV' After Banning Three News Outlets from White House

The Trump administration has launched a 24-hour video broadcasting channel, "Trump TV," just days after barring journalists from three news organizations from entering the White House.

The channel officially began broadcasting at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday and is available through the White House's official YouTube channel under the name "Trump TV: The Essentials Station."

According to the White House, the channel will provide round-the-clock coverage of administration announcements, President Donald Trump's major speeches, official events, and selected archival footage. The administration said the initiative is intended to deliver information about government activities directly to the public through videos produced and curated by the White House.

The launch follows Trump's decision to ban journalists from CNN, Politico and MSNBC from the White House. The president accused the three news organizations of publishing what he described as "fake news" about his administration.

On Saturday, security personnel prevented journalists from the three outlets from entering the White House. CNN also reported that the press credentials of its correspondent, Betsy Klein, were confiscated.

CNN, Politico and MSNBC have since filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration, arguing that the restrictions violate press freedom and protections guaranteed under the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

Meanwhile, on Monday, five major broadcasters responsible for the White House television press pool—ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News and NBC—jointly suspended their shared video coverage of presidential events. The move came after the White House prevented CNN from carrying out its assigned pool responsibilities, and the other broadcasters declined to send replacement crews in solidarity.

The White House said Trump TV will feature the president's speeches, administration announcements, news conferences, and selected footage from previous official events.

However, the new channel is not a substitute for independent journalism. Its content is produced and selected by the administration itself and does not include independent reporting, investigative journalism, questioning by reporters, fact-checking, or editorial oversight.

The launch comes amid an escalating dispute between the White House and major U.S. news organizations. With the lawsuit filed by the three media outlets now before the courts, the administration's authority to restrict journalists' access to the White House and the broader issue of press freedom are expected to face increased legal scrutiny.
