Trump Rebrands AI as 'Super Intelligence' in UN Speech

U.S. President Donald Trump sought to rebrand artificial intelligence (AI) during his address to the United Nations, referring to the technology as "Super Intelligence" instead of "Artificial Intelligence."

In his speech, Trump argued that the term "artificial" gives the impression that the technology is fake or inferior.

"When you call it artificial, it sounds like it's not real. It's not artificial—it's extraordinary," he said, while also stressing the need for caution in the use and development of the technology.

He concluded the remarks by declaring, "Welcome to the new world of Super Intelligence."

Trump has repeatedly argued that the United States must remain the global leader in the race to develop artificial intelligence. Speaking last week, he said, "Whoever controls AI will win."

The U.S. president has also been a vocal opponent of imposing additional government regulation or new restrictions on the AI industry. His position contrasts with that of many leaders and policymakers attending the United Nations, where calls for stronger international oversight and governance of AI have gained increasing support.
