NEWS DESKSeven people have been killed in two separate plane crashes in the US states of Illinois and Nebraska. This accident has created a tragic situation. The families of those who lost their lives in the two separate accidents in the two states are deeply saddened. The plane crash should send a message that the state's security system needs to be strengthened.
A small single engine plane with four people on board crashed in a field in rural Illinois on Saturday, with no survivors reported. Coles County Coroner Ed Schniers confirmed the casualties in the incident, and said that the victims were two women and two men without providing any further details of identification pending notification of next of kin.
The Illinois State Police said that it was “an active and ongoing fatal aircraft investigation.” The single engine Cessna C180G airplane went down at about 10:15am near the unincorporated community of Trilla, which is about 65 miles south of Champaign.
The Illinois State Police further added that the debris of the plane was scattered on the roadway, which remained shut several hours after the deadly crash took place. The incident occurred a dozen miles from the Coles County Memorial Airport in Mattoon, Illinois, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said, as per New York Times.
Three people have died, and their bodies have been recovered after a small plane crash in Nebraska, authorities said. The Dodge County Sheriff's Office said that "a small plane was traveling along the Platte River south of Fremont when it crashed into the river" on Friday night.
"The three occupants of the plane have been recovered and are confirmed deceased," authorities continued. "Those identities will not be released at this time pending next of kin notification." The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board have now taken over the investigation. The cause of the crash is currently unknown.
The Dodge County Sheriffs Office has asked the community to avoid the area until further notice so that they may continue with their investigation.
According to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), preliminary investigation suggests the plane had struck power lines, Associated Press reported. The NTSB and FAA are investigating the crash which took the lives of four individuals aboard the plane.
The Dodge County Sheriffs Office has asked the community to avoid the area until further notice so that they may continue with their investigation.
