The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) conducted extensive operations across border areas and other parts of the country in October 2025, seizing smuggled goods, narcotics and illegal items worth around Tk206.42 crore.
According to a BGB press release, the confiscated items included 3.26kg of gold, 11.41kg of silver, 33,910 saris, 19,580 three-pieces/shirt-pieces/blankets, 16,991 ready-made garments, 569 metres of cloth, 1,71,946 cosmetic products, 6,227 imitation jewellery pieces, 17,61,526 firecrackers, 6,052 cubic feet of wood, 4,589kg of tea, 10,392kg of betel nuts, 31,651kg of coal, 535 cubic feet of stone, 37,355kg of nets/yarn, 251 mobile phones, 31,678 mobile displays, 48,286 spectacles, 40,826kg of cumin, 9,914kg of sugar, 26,458kg of onions, 601kg of garlic, 5,378 packets of seeds, 7,690kg of fertiliser, 5,024 packets of pesticides, 3,002 litres of diesel, 1,09,732 chocolate bars, and 1,500 cattle/buffaloes.
The seized vehicles included 10 trucks/covered vans, 21 pickups or Mahindras, two tractors, four private cars/microbuses, nine trolleys, 197 boats, 32 CNG-run auto-rickshaws or easy bikes, 49 motorcycles, and 30 bicycles/vans.
Recovered weapons included four pistols, one revolver, three mortar shells, six hand grenades, three magazines, 53 rounds of ammunition, 250g of explosives, two detonators, and seven other weapons.
During anti-narcotics drives, BGB also recovered 13,82,462 yaba tablets, 3.205kg of heroin, 5,465 bottles of Phensedyl, 10,582 bottles of foreign liquor, 251.5 litres of local liquor, 1,267 cans of beer, 1,782.24kg of cannabis, 1,30,759 packets of cigarettes and bidis, 55,917 intoxicating tablets/injections, 4,082 bottles of Eskuf syrup, 6,309 Anagra/Senegra tablets, 130kg of yaba powder, and 7,27,768 other drugs and tablets.
In these operations, 184 smugglers were arrested for involvement in narcotics and smuggling, while 210 Bangladeshi nationals and three Indian citizens were detained for illegal border crossing.
Additionally, 493 Myanmar nationals attempting to enter Bangladesh illegally were pushed back to their country.
