Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman may visit India next week, with preparations reportedly underway in both Dhaka and New Delhi, Indian news outlet NDTV reported.
If confirmed, it would be Tarique Rahman’s first visit to India since becoming prime minister, potentially making the trip significant for bilateral relations between the two neighbouring countries.
During the visit, Rahman is expected to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two leaders may discuss a range of issues of mutual interest, including trade, connectivity, energy, border management and regional security.
Citing sources familiar with the matter, NDTV reported that the visit could last two days and would primarily focus on bilateral discussions. However, the exact schedule has yet to be finalised.
India invited Rahman to visit New Delhi shortly after he took office as prime minister in February.
New Delhi has also invited Bangladesh to attend the BRICS Outreach Session scheduled to be held in New Delhi in September.
