Thousands of young people have protested in the capital Kathmandu, demanding the government lift its ban on social media platforms and end the country's culture of corruption. The Gen-Z protesters entered the parliament building in New Baneshwor. They broke through police barricades and climbed over the gate to enter.

Although the program was supposed to be peaceful on Monday, the Gen-Z protest turned violent. Police used tear gas and water cannon to control the situation.

As the situation escalated, the Kathmandu District Administration Office has imposed a curfew in Baneshwor and important areas around from 12:30 pm to 22:00 pm.

The curfew announcement, signed by Chief District Officer Chobi Rizal, said the decision was taken under Section 6(A) of the Local Administration Act 2028.

The curfew has been imposed from New Baneshwar Chowk in the west to Bijulibazar Bridge (adjacent to Everest Hotel), Tinkune Chowk in the east (via Min Bhavan and Shantinagar) to Ratna Rajya Secondary School adjacent to Iplex Mall in the north, and to Shankhamul Bridge in the south.

Generation Z (Gen-G) youth born between 1997 and 2012 are protesting against corruption and the government's decision to ban social media in various cities including Kathmandu, Pokhara, Butwal, Biratnagar.
